San Vicente de la Barquera: beautiful sea village, between two rivers, with a typical harbour, a rich gastronomy, monuments to visit and one of the most spectacular beaches in Spain, located next to the Oyambre Park.
Cantabria: North Sapin region, located in the Green Spain between Asturias and Basque Country, with natural and green mountainous surroundings.
The capital, Santander, half an hour from San Vicente de la Barquera, is own of the cities with most tourist experience in Spain, due to its beautiful surroundings and due to being the traditional summer destination of many families though centuries.
Torrelavega: 20 minutes from San Vicente de la Barquera. Is the most important industrial city in Cantabria, and has all kind of shops, services, industries and beautiful tourist surroundings.
We can stand out some excursions to other villages very close to San Vicente, like: Unquera, Pechón, Pesués and Llanes in the direction of Asturias, and Comillas, Santillana del Mar, Cabezón de la Sal and Suances, in the direction of Torrelavega.
From Pesués start a road to the interior, where you can find the caves “Cuevas del Soplao”, and a bunch of mountainous towns like Cosio, San Sebastián de Garabandal and Tudanca.
In Unquera starts the Picos de Europa tour, with Potes, the Hermida gorge, and Puente De, among other tourist destinations.
By Road:
Coming from Santander or Torrelavega, there are two routes:
1.- By the motorway A8 Santander-Oviedo. Take the road that branches off in the 264 exit to San Vicente de la Barquera. When you enter the town, turn 270 degrees in the roundabout and go up in the street, turning left in the first steep street, which is called Camino de los Calzadas
2.- By the national road N-634. Reaching San Vicente de la Barquera you cross a 28 arches bridge (Puente de la Maza), and you end up in the same roundabout than the first route. Crossing the roundabout straight you’ll reach the same street.
Coming from Asturias there are as well two routes:
1.- By the motorway A8 Oviedo Santander: Take the road that branches off in the 264 exit to San Vicente de la Barquera. When you enter the town, turn 270 degrees in the roundabout and go up in the street, turning left in the first steep street, which is called Camino de los Calzados
2.- By the national road N-634: Reaching San Vicente de la Barquera you cross the short bridge and you enter the town, crossing it completely, until you reach the roundabout mentioned in the route 1. Turning right you reach the same street.
